Snowball

       Richard Landry’s  Reading Is Magic program is a high energy, fun-filled, educational show that utilizes magic, storytelling, puppetry and lots of audience participation to teach your students about the media center, the proper care of books, and the magic of reading.  Each program runs 45 minutes. He has also developed a 30 minute version that is perfect for Pre-K Family Nights.

 

        During the program Richard engages the whole audience and everyone is part of the show.  Richard also shows them that reading can be a magical adventure as he stresses the following three points:

 

1. IT IS IMPORTANT TO READ EVERY DAY,
2. YOU CAN GROW UP TO BE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE IF YOU ARE A GOOD READER, and
3. YOU NEED TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR BOOKS.

 

HOW THIS PROGRAM WORKS:

 

     The magic words, "I LOVE TO READ", are repeated several times by the children throughout the program.  This program is full of surprises, smiles, and good clean fun for the children. During the program--much to everyone's surprise and delight--Richard brings out his special assistant SNOWBALL, a real-live, Netherlands dwarf rabbit.  As Richard and Snowball complete the program they review the three main points.  This program also increases the awareness of your students to the many opportunities that their library has to offer through books, videos, music, and special programming.
